Maun International Arts Festival 2016


The annual Maun International Arts Festival (MIAF) is bringing another round of culture and entertainment to the streets of Maun for the sixth year running!

From Saturday the 22nd to Sunday the 30th October 2016, artists from all over the globe will be travelling to this cultural hot-spot for a week of performance, art and creativity. Botswana reaches an incredible milestone of 50 years of independence this year, and MIAF is celebrating alongside this incredible country.

The festival features a wide range of artistic expressions, and promises a true celebration of the arts. Get ready for a full week of Comedy, Poetry, Live Music, Dance, Hip Hop, Visual Arts, Theatre and Creative Writing. Look forward to a diverse and international array of performances, since this year the MIAF is hosting participants from Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Bulgaria, United States of America, Kenya, and Hungary to name a few!

Maun International Film Festival 2016

The Grand Opening of the festival will be on Saturday the 22nd from 18h00- 22h00, and will showcase a range of artistic expression and highly refined performances. The Grand Opening takes place at the Town Stage and entrance is free, so make sure to start this year’s festival off on the right foot.

Another event to look out for is the Black to Our Roots: A Night of Traditional Instrument, Music, Dance and Poetry performance which takes place at the Nhabe Museum for P30 from 18h00 -22h00. Also make sure not to miss the Comedy Night at the Cresta Riley’s Marquee from 18h00 to 22h00 on Wednesday the 26th of October. This event showcases local and international comedians, and promises to leave you laughing long after the event is done.
